After wrapping up an investigation at the Freetown State Forest in Freetown, Massachusetts the six members of the Northeast Spectral Science Society decided to do some exploring around town. While we were packing our equipment, Katie noticed a couple of cemeteries on the map that were in close proximity to our location. One in particular caught her attention, the Old Quaker Cemetery.
HISTORY:
Though we couldn’t find much historical information on this particular cemetery, we do know that it is owned and maintained by the local Quaker community.
CLAIMS of ACTIVITY:
We did not arrive with any specific activity in mind, rather we went for a walk through history.
OUR INVESTIGATION:
When we arrived, the members of the team who enjoy photography took advantage of some beautiful late-afternoon light, while the rest of the team walked through and surveyed the area.
After a little while, we decided to set up for an impromptu investigation. We converged in the middle of the cemetery for an EVP session and placed our K-II meter in the center of our circle. Aaron monitored the perimeter with another EMF meter, a Lutron EMF-822A. As is our custom, we introduced ourselves to what ever presence may have been around us. Then we followed with the usual questions: “Is there anyone here today that would like to speak with us?” “Would you tell us your name?” “Can you tell us how old you are?”
Later review of our audio recordings revealed what we think sounds like the cry of a baby or a child. We were not near any normal source for that particular sound, and none of our team noted hearing any such sound during the session. This EVP is below, and has not been altered but to clip it to a manageable size. This is best listened to through headphones. The crying noise is about three seconds in.

PERSONAL EXPERIENCES:
There is one interesting event we should note. When our team exited the cemetery, the left side of the wrought iron gate swung a foot or so and apparently by means we can not explain. None of us had touched it and the wind was not blowing. We tried to recreate this by walking back in, then out again to see if it was moved by the wind from our passing, but we could not get it to move this way. It was not a well-oiled gate, and moving it took a bit of effort.
CONCLUSION:
The events that transpired during our visit, while interesting, do not provide us with any conclusive proof that the site is haunted. However the phenomena noted above does warrant further inquiry and we will be returning to the site as soon as our schedule will allow.
